Supporting Student Mental Health: A Guide for Educators

This course offers a powerful, first-person-informed framework to help educators better understand, support, and respond to the mental health needs of their students. Grounded in the real-life experiences of youth advocates with lived experience, this course bridges research-based strategies with authentic stories from the classroom.

Educators will gain insight into the emotional realities students face and develop practical tools to foster emotional safety, reduce stigma, and create inclusive environments where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. Whether you’re a teacher, counselor, or school leader, this course will help you build stronger, more compassionate relationships with students and respond to moments of crisis with care and confidence.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize early signs of emotional distress and respond with trauma-informed strategies
  • Reduce stigma by creating a classroom culture where mental health is openly discussed and supported
  • Promote emotional safety and belonging for all students—especially those navigating mental health challenges
